What do I need to buy a Spark MasterCard?
How much does a Spark MasterCard cost? Does it include balance?
The Spark MasterCard has a price of 10€ and it comes without balance. It is a prepaid MasterCard, which can be reloaded for a period of five years.
How do I active my card? How do I get my PIN?
To active your card, you just need to send an SMS with the word: PIN [space] and the last 8 digits of your card to +34 600 67 07 07. Example: PIN 23456789
After a few seconds, you will receive an SMS confirming that your card has been activated and your PIN. You will need your PIN to buy at physical stores and the first time you access “MY CARD” in our website.
How can I reload my card?
Spark offers the most extensive prepaid reloading network in Spain, so that you can always reload your card in the most convinient way for you. We offer all these methods, which you can see in our section reload:
- Bank deposit
- Bank transfer
- 35,000 authorized points of sale (Kiosks, Gas stations, Locutorios, Media Markt, etc.)

Where can I use my Spark MasterCard?
SPARK is a prepaid MasterCard, which means that you will be able to use it in millions of MasterCard affiliated shops and ATMs around the world, as of course, online.

Currently, our Spark card can only be registered in the following countries:
Åland Islands, Austria, Azores, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canary Islands, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, French Guiana, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Guadeloupe, Guernsey, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Isle of Man, Italy, Jersey, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Madeira, Malta, Martinique, Mayotte, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Réunion, Romania, Saint Barthélemy, Saint Martin (French part), Saint Pierre and Miquelon, San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom.
Why do I need to register my personal information?
- To upgrade your card from SPARK LEVEL to SPARK PLUS, you should register your card with truthful information. In case of incident or trouble, your ID (DNI, NIE or passport) will be required for verification.
- To upgrade to PREMIUM LEVEL all the registered information should match the documentation provided, either DNI, NIE or passport.
How many cards could be registered per user?
Each user could have up to four cards per phone number and person. Independently from your card’s level, the maximum number of cards is four.
Can I use my card abroad?
Of course! Spark MasterCard is a prepaid card that can be used anywhere in the world that accepts MasterCard.
What are the fees for using Spark MasterCard?
Our main fee is taken at moment of the load of the card. The load fee varies depending on the method that you use to load your card. We do not charge any fees for purchasing with your card. If you want more information about fees please go to our section fees.
What is the Card ID Number?
The Card ID Number is a 12 digit number that starts with 2000… and is located in the back of your card. The card ID number is used like an account number and is used to reload your card through banks or points of sale, and also for identifying yourself with our customer service. Using the card ID number is a way to protect your information and avoid exposing your real card number to any third party.
Spark levels and limits
What are the different Spark levels?
Your Spark MasterCard is one card with 3 levels:
- Spark: When you buy the card and activate it, your card is at this level. You can make one card load of up to 250€.
- Spark One: If you register your card in our website with your personal details, your card will automatically become Spark One, which allows you to reload it up to 2,500€ per year.
- Spark Premium: If you also upload your documents, we will upgrade your card to Spark Premium in 24 hours. Spark Premium allows your to have a maximum balance of 15,000€ without any annual loading limits.

How much can I load on my card?
The card load limits depend on the level of your card:
- Spark: Maximum of 250€
- Spark One: Maximum of 1,000€/day and 2,500€ per year
- Spark Premium: Maximum 5,000€/day

How much can I spend with my card?
The spending limits are different depending on your card level:
- Spark: Available balance
- Spark One: Available balance
- Spark Premium: Maximum of 10,000€/day

How much can I withdraw from an ATM?
You can withdraw up to 500€ per day with the levels Spark One and Spark Premium.
What happens if I lose my card?
If you lose your card, the first thing you should do is blocking your card so that someone else cannot spend your balance. You can block your card sending an SMS to +34 600 67 07 07 with the word: BLOQUEO [space] and the last 4 digits of your card. Example: BLOQUEO 6789
In addition, you can call our customer service and we will help you transfer your remaining balance to a new card.
Can I overdraft my card?
Spark MasterCard is a prepaid card, which means you can only spend the funds that you have loaded on the card and cannot overdraft.
Why was my card refused at a gas station or toll if I have enough balance?
Some gas statios take a pre-authorization of 70-120€ before the fuel pump starts working. At the end of the day, the gas station’s bank cancels the pre-authorization and returns the funds to the user, minus the fuel purchased. If your card does not have enough balance to cover the pre-authorization, your card might be declined.
Some times when paying in places like tolls, parkings, or during airline flights, businesses can have “offline” terminals (without internet connection) during the payment process. These offline terminals cannot verify your balance real time, so these businesses may decline payment from prepaid cards.
What should I do if I find an unauthorized transaction?
If you find an unauthroized transaction, please report it to our customer service as soon as possible. We will send you a dispute form that you will need to fill out and send back to us at [email protected] Your case will be investigated and if the dispute is in your favor, we will return your balanace.
